| When we visited beautiful Lake Cumberland State Resort Park last September before the leaves began to change color, we agreed to return in the fall -- particularly since it's only about 5 miles from Wolf Creek Hatchery, where we're currently volunteering. Today was a beautiful sunshiny day and a perfect day to take photos of the park in all its Autumn splendor. |  |
 | Worth a third look: We visited again a week later on November 14. The drive was pretty scary because it was raining and many leaves had been blown onto the roadway. (Always on the lookout for area wildlife.) We dined at Rowena Landing, where Smitty sampled the Creelsboro Cordon Bleu, while Bob and I had the Ribeye Steak. Our baked potatoes weren't cut the fancy way as they were in our previous visit, but they were tasty nonetheless. |

We had to miss most of the goings-on in Hulett during Bike Week last August because of the heavy traffic between Hulett and Devils Tower, but we did hear The Roosters on a Sunday afternoon. We recognize some of the "scenery" in this video that I recently discovered on the band's website:

Anyone know what kind of tree this leaf fell from?

Most people we talk to who are fulltime RVers agree that life is not dull or predictable. I know I have dwelled on the temps here at Wolf Creek Hatchery, but we really did not expect them to be 27 degrees at night in early November. We have no water right now because the water hose is frozen, but it will likely thaw out as the sun warms us up. We can get water by turning on the pump and using water in our fresh water tank.
We hope to eliminate a little bit more of the chaos today on our day off.
After I got up this morning, the outside temp continued to drop. At 7 AM, it's 27º outside.
We do expect that once the sun comes over the treetops that the sun will warm things up pretty quickly.
The day's unique start: An early doctor's appointment in Somerset, at which we were treated to this beautiful display of colorful glassware in the waiting room. And this was just the tip of the iceberg: All around us were beautiful creations of the doctor herself.
After Wendell's appointment and a quick brunch at Cracker Barrel, we traveled 21 miles east to Daniel Boone National Forest, where the 1-mile hike in the Natural Arch Scenic Area quickly shook off the day's overcast chilliness. While I pulled out my camera for photos of the stunning arch that awaited us at the trail's end, Smitty jawboned with a tree-cutting crew that had stopped for lunch.
