As I told my sister last night, I’m a copy cat, because when I see something that someone else has done that I consider good, I copy it. This morning I ran across an article that I liked so much I feel compelled to share it:

Now that I've finished reading this book and listening to its accompanying audio CD, I feel certain that this is a landmark book that "motor-sickel nuts" and history buffs will want in their libraries. Although I can't talk cams, compression ratios, fuels or displacements, I found it very interesting. I'm a fan of its author, motorcyle historian Jerry Hatfield. I've also become a Rollie Free fan. Whatta guy! Its beautiful illustrations and audio footage of his final interview help tell Rollie's story as he deserved to have it told. If you're a Harley-Davidson enthusiast, you'll understand after reading the book why Rollie devoted his entire life to beating Harley with speed.

If you search the web with only FLAT OUT, you will discover there are two books entitled Flat Out that include the subject of land speed racing, which have appeared in the last 24 months. The other book by Rocky Robinson is entitled Flat Out: The Race for the Motorcycle World Land Speed Record.

Apparently, last year, when she was still a kitten, she took great delight in undecorating their Christmas tree daily. This year, she has calmed down -- so much so that she was found sleeping among its branches. |

Years ago CS's in Jackson was a watering hole with much longer hours than it now has. People continue to fill the place up for lunch, but we first knew it as a place to play pool and have a cool brew. That was when the first video games had come out such as Pac Man. We frequently met our friends there after work. Yes, they’re famous for their Inez Burgers, but we go there for their plate lunches and to visit with Pat and Inez. We also shared a peach cobbler with ice cream.

Being back in the Jackson area gave us the opportunity to attend yesterday's services at Wells Memorial UMC for the first time since last Spring. This meant being treated to music performed by its outstanding choir. Along with an inspirational 2006 Greatest Hits CD, music by the Wells choir is also featured on Carols of Remembrance, which includes songs from last year's Christmas presentation with St. John UMC's choir, to offer both congregations superb sacred music.

There are many kinds of sacred music, and last summer I was introduced to still another kind when David Wolfs Robe AKA Flute Man performed at Devils Tower in Wyoming.

We have one other Ray Conniff Singers CD, but this is THE REAL CHRISTMAS MUSIC. I'm evidently not the only person who realizes this, because Ray Conniff We Wish You A Merry Christmas¯ is still played in stores during December and carried by the Internet's ultimate retailer, Amazon. |
Like most Saturday mornings, I spoke to Mother on the phone. She told me she received her first Christmas card yesterday from her sister. This reminded me that one time we received two Christmas gifts before Thanksgiving many years ago. They were sent by Wendell's sister Judy, who was definitely on the ball that year.
Wendell's other sister Patsy gave me a beautiful counted crosstitch many years ago of The Drummer Boy. I wonder what year that was? She likely did that because we had a tradition of sending Drummer Boy Christmas cards every year, but it seems The Drummer Boy has fallen out of fashion in recent years, and I have not been able to find one to send out.
This may be the only Christmas card you receive from me, so let me Wish You A Merry Christmas and A Happy 2008.
