GULF SHORES, ALA.
The free concert featuring Jimmy Buffett on the beach at Gulf Shores has been rescheduled due to increased surf that threatens to undermine the stage.
Gulf Shores Mayor Robert Craft said Monday the concert that had been set for July 1 is now scheduled for July 11, a Sunday.
Buffett and a lineup of stars including Kenny Chesney, Zack Brown and others planned the free concert to help support residents and businesses struggling due to the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Craft said Tropical Storm Alex is not viewed as a threat to the Alabama coast but is creating surf conditions that could make the stage unstable.
Oil and tar balls have washed ashore at Gulf Shores and other Alabama beach resorts, putting a dent in the summer tourist season.

Back to our music — we have discovered that our playing music on the screened porch brings out some competition. It's probably mockingbirds that are trying to outdo us. It's a good feeling knowing that we are part of their life just as they are a part of our daily life. Indeed, all the little creatures that live around us can be as interesting to watch as the TV – perhaps even moreso. Surely this kind of activity keeps your blood pressure down and your happiness level elevated. Give it a try to see what we mean.
