A Day Late and More Than A Dollar Short

Happy Valentines DayOne of my favorite love songs, My Funny Valentine, has quite a history. It was introduced in 1937's Broadway musical Babes in Arms, when I was around four months old, and has remained popular ever since. I vaguely recall hearing it in a 1950's movie when I was a teenager. Its lyrics and melody charmed me.

My funny Valentine
Sweet comic Valentine
You make me smile with my heart
Your looks are laughable, unphotographable
Yet you're my favorite work of art

Is your figure less than Greek?
Is your mouth a little weak?
When you open it to speak, are you smart?

But don't change a hair for me
Not if you care for me
Stay little Valentine, stay

Each day is Valentine's Day

Sunrise ~ Sunset

Before I met my hubby, I had nothing to do with the country music scene, and Perry Como was one of my favorites. It was good to hear him sing this song from the Broadway musical Fiddler On The Roof this morning. Hope you enjoy it too.
